I qualified to provide mortgage advice in 2002, launching Active Mortgage in 2008. But it wasn’t until in 2015, we realised firsthand how hard it is to get a mortgage when you’re self-employed. My wife Ayesha was a sole trader at the time, and I was running Active, and we wanted to buy our own home. Which – as you’ll know – is easier said than done. We really struggled to find a mortgage, and when we did get one, it didn’t really add maximum value, nor did it give us a competitive interest rate. At that point it became my mission to ensure that business owners, company directors, people like me and you – people who risk it all to create something greater and better – are able to secure the perfect mortgage without the stress and worry that I went through.
